The tadpoles nebula (IC410) was not really on my list until I decided to point my telescope at it one night while waiting for another nebula to rise above the horizon. After capturing about an hour and a half on the nebula, and processing it, I decided that I wanted to make this my next project. However, I did not realize how much time I was going to spend on it. With a great streak of weather rolling through my area from October 2nd – October 10th, I spent a significant amount of time imaging it. It has a strong cast of both OIII and Ha data, that stood out immediately through my filter, the Optolong L-eNhance.
The tadpoles nebula (IC410) is an emission nebula in the constellation of Auriga. It is at a distance of ~12400 light years, give or take a light year or two. It is named after two pillars of gas that stick out, giving it the name of tadpoles. It is likely that the heads of these tadpoles will be or are currently sites of star formation. Only time will tell.
As a side note, I will be reviewing the ZWO AM3n before too long. I want to get some more time in using it, before I really give my full opinion on the mount.
